Joshua 3:15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
Joshua 3 covers the story of crossing the Jordan.
Verse 15, our focus today, we see God placing a very difficult task on Joshua and the children of Israel; crossing the Jordan when its banks were over-flowing.
Why couldn't God wait until the rains subsided? The Lord wanted to magnify Himself and also remind the children of Israel and us today, that He is beyond the challenges which seem like they can over-flow us.
The parting of the Jordan is a reminder that God made, still does and will always walk make a way where there seems to be no way, when we walk by faith and in obedience to His word.
Obedience is agreeing to go forward despite the clear view of an obstacle - a raging river with its banks overflowing.
Faith is stepping forward with the eyes focussed on the Commander of His Army and not on the might of the enemy.
When it is really impossible, there is a God to turn to, with whom everything is possible.
Miracles happen to those who dip their feet in the brim of the water. Those who take steps of faith to get rid of debt. Those who take steps of faith to apply for positions with no god-father canvassing for them because they have God -the Almighty Father, those who take steps of faith to mend broken marriages and the list goes on and on.
God has promised to answer us when we call upon Him. We are very good at calling on God. Most likely, as you read this you're praying for something to happen. And surely God answers.
However, it is the answers that He gives us that we fail to obey and remain in the same situations year after year. You might be praying for financial break-through and the Lord is asking you to resign and wade through the tough waters of business. However, you can't let go your friendship with fear.
It's a bond you treasure.
Hasn't He said I will never leave you nor forsake you? Hebrews 13:5 and Deuteronomy 31:6
Hasn't He said He will always be with you when you pass through the waters? Isaiah 43:2
Hasn't He said those rivers will not over-flow you?
Joshua and the children of Israel literally passed through the waters. The waters divided and they passed through. God wants you to do the same today. Facing your giant, stepping forward in faith and He will do He will divide the waters for you.
God divides the raging waters when you step on their brim. He did not divide the waters when the priests were standing on the dry river bank. It happened when their feet were dipped in the brim of the water.
God is faithful and He is not a liar. He fulfills His word.
It is important for us to know that, God is not limited to what our eyes can see. He moves mountains and oceans to the glory and honour of His name.
If you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, know that God is willing to use that over-flowing Jordan to magnify Himself. Will you allow Him?
Could it be you lack school fees for yourself or your children?
Could it be your marriage is almost breaking down?
Could it be an illness?
Take a step of faith and the waters of Jordan will separate and you shall walk on dry land.
The Lord chooses those most difficult moments to glorify His name.
Worrying and being anxious won't move the waters before you a drop away.
