You could have found yourself having committed something awful. The guilt could be eating you day and night. However much you want to feel good, you just feel overwhelmed by the impact of your sin.

You just feel God cannot forgive you for such a sin. The fact that you had felt the Holy Spirit prompting you not to go ahead makes it worse. At some point you even think God is punishing you. "How could I do that?", you wonder.

A feeling of hopelessness engulfs you and you tend to be okay with your sorrowful predicament.

Big question; Is unforgiveness the nature and character of God?
You will be surprised it is not. In fact it is God who pleads with us to go back to Him. We sin against Him, we walk out on him yet He comes looking for us. God's sole desire is to see every child of Adam reconciled to Him.

The text from Jeremiah 3:12-13 is about God tearfully pleading with Judah to turn back to Him from their Idoltary and all manner of immorality. While God is at liberty to pick another nation and make it His beloved, He chooses to honour His covenant.

Here is God pleading
Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.

An angered God promising not to allow His anger to fall on a wicked nation. He further states that He is merciful.

In verse 13 He says,
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God..... - Just that. Simply acknowledge your iniquity.

What happens when you go before God in repentance?
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.

Continous guilt and feeling unforgiven are weapons the devil uses to rob you the peace that comes with reconciliation to God upon your confession and repentance. Simply acknowledge your sin, repent and accept God's forgiveness. He loves you so much to turn you back. He is the one looking for you. Pleading that you go back to Him. No man can comprehend His love.

Just love Him back!
